Shopping Lists! Ephemera!

Clientele

The most positive person I’ve ever met is my friend Steve. In fact, he is so positive that I sometimes wonder if he’s just being extremely sarcastic and playing me for a fool:

Phil - “So what does your friend do for a living?”
Steve - “He’s a Gas Man. And a damn good one.”

Now, that sounds like something that I’d say, when I’m trying to take the mick out of a person. As such, I grinned at his joke, before gradually realising that he may well be serious. Or was he? I decided to test the waters further:

Phil - “I can’t wait. I’m off to see one of my favourite bands next week. Strange thing is, they’re playing in a bowling alley. I’m not entirely sure how that will work!”
Steve - “What do you mean? It’ll be great! The only thing better than live music would be live music in a bowling alley! Brilliant!”

His enthusiasm for everything was infectious. And, as such, I wandered off to the gig at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes on Saturday night with high hopes I would be witnessing brilliance. Only it wasn’t. The sound system was very poor and, unless you were within six feet of the band they were drowned out by the noise of people, well, bowling. It was all very odd, and made me realise that any band that has been together since 1996 and is still competing to be heard above people bowling may not be ‘making it’ any time soon.

Although Steve may well have another perspective on things!

It might just indicate something as to the nature of your musical taste that all the artists you like are either playing bowling alleys or in a graveyard.

  2. Phil Says:

<sarcasm> Did Niki have to write that for you now you only have one arm Si? If not, I have to say that you seem to be coping marvellously! </sarcasm>

    No, really, you are…

Oh Phil. You know I love you!
