(Updating) Them a New One
I’ve been asked by more than a few people in the last few weeks as to the progress of our lawsuit against Complete Preservation Services, the Cowboy damp-proofing specialists.
Short answer is - there’s very little to tell. There was no response to our emails, letters, or court case. As such, we applied for a default judgement, which was granted and they now ‘have’ to pay. Unfortunately, that was well before Christmas and we haven’t heard anything. Meanwhile, the website that keeps track of cases going through the Small Claims Court has been offline for some weeks. In theory we can now apply to have the money recovered by bailiffs, but, I suspect, in practice we won’t see a penny.
Most frustrating.
Update 15/1/2008 - About ten minutes after I posted this, I received an email to say that the website was back online and that we’d paid an extra £55 to issue a ‘warrant’ to retrieve the money (total now up to £590). Quite how this works remains to be seen, but at least things appear to be moving!
