Fear and Loathing in Worksop
I’ve been following the ongoing saga of ‘banned England football shirts in pubs’ with some amusement in the past week. Enemies of Reason have gone into quite some depth as to why this is one of the more retarded, ridiculous and downright wrong tabloid stories of recent… days.
One of these amusingly parochial articles appeared in the Worksop Guardian, so I clicked on through, had a good laugh and was about to go about my business when I spotted the following poll:
Slightly polarising choices there… I’d be tempted to suggest a third option: ‘It’s no better or worse than anywhere else’. Although if the Worksop tourist board ever wanted to introduce a provocative new anti-slogan, I’d definitely suggest ‘Come to Worksop - 65% of us live in fear every day!’

I take it this is the article in the worksop guardian you were refering to?

I do love the fact that they’ve had an ‘unnamed woman’ saying she was told to take her flags down but the police have no record of visiting her and have never told someone to remove their flag.
There is also the in depth interview with a barber who has England flags up. That’s it, that’s the sole reason he’s been interviewed.

Yeah that’s the one. Not being able to display England flags due to ‘political correctness gone mad’ is right up there with immigrants eating swans and local councils celebrating ‘Winter Festival’ rather than Christmas in the list of Tory red-top tropes.
